I have come to the conclusion that my life’s a mess and a masterpiece simultaneously.
I can not remember what precisely God and I were discussing but, I vividly remember Him giving me the revelation that Jesus, his son, my bro, is a Messy Messiah. That he saves those of us, who are the messiest. He saves those of us that are too messy for church. Too messy for relational intelligence. Too messy for the world and too messy for people. Basically, Jesus is not afraid to come into our mess.
I am not talking about the “mess” when a few things are out of place or that Tuesday mess when you recently cleaned up on Sunday mess. I am talking about that Friday mess, after you have had a long stressful week, and nothing is clean or in place mess. If we knew and understood that Jesus came for our mess, that our mess is what he specializes in, then we would be less inclined to hide our mess from him. Do not believe me? Jesus is messy too. He was too messy for his people. Too messy for his Hometown. Too messy for the Pharisees. And too messy for a messed up world. (Crazy, right?)
Want to know how I know Jesus is not afraid of mess? His homeboys were the messiest you could find—hotheads and , scandalous boys. Jesus himself flipped tables, battled with demons, and talked to a woman of the wrong kind at the well. He stood in place for an adulterous woman and told her accusers to pull out a mirror the next time they wanted to check her. And he came to a little girl from a small town in South Carolina. Took residence with her, in her mess, and she looked up and realized he was always there with her, through and in her mess.
Do not let the world deceive you. We severe and honor a messy messiah. One who knows our mess came for our mess, delivered us despite our mess, and is right beside us during our mess, even right now.
Know that your life, mind, health, sickness, and sin are not too Messy for God. He loves you, and so do I. God bless.
