The Watering From the Rain

“When it rains it pours……”- Tupac. The realness of this lyric has been resonating with me now more than ever. It seems like the more I ascend in life the more I feel like I am drowning, that the rain comes more than the sun. Have you ever desired the easier path in life? The path where the scenery is comforting, the road is smooth, and there are no surprises, off roads, etc.? As I have been experiencing the heavy pouring of the rain, I wanted to share with you all what God has shared with me and on how to get through it.

Rainfall is unique in that, if you have too much of it, things go wrong, and it you have too little, things go wrong, but even with all things considered, it is impossible to live without it.

When there is too much rainfall, flooding occurs, damaging the soil, eroding its nutrients which damages the plants roots. Like us, that if we experience too much rain in our lives, our roots become damaged, we become so inundated with the trial that the lesson becomes invalid, all that grew and is growing in our lives, “floods away.” On the contrary, when there is too little rainfall, it causes droughts, and it breaks the circulation or cycle of the atmosphere. If we only received sunshine in our life, we would become dried out, stale, and our once fruitful harvest, becomes stressed from the sunlight. If we consider it in terms of God being the Gardner, and our lives being the garden, then we understand that rain is imperative, and nature’s perfected way of regulating rainfall, emulates its creator–God. God regulates the rain we receive in our lives to stabilize the climate of our worlds and continue the cycle of our atmosphere. We need the rain to water the seeds God has planted in our life. Basically, I am saying that the rainfall is good for our lives. Do not believe me? Let us go to the Bible.

Let us turn to James 1:2-17 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=James+1%3A2-17&version=NIV

Highlight verse James 1:2-3 “Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.”

In the entire passage of scripture James encourages us to take joy in our trials or rainfall seasons because it produces perseverance,- good things. He then warns us to not be deceived James 1:16-17, that all good things come from above, and they are not man made, like riches, privileges, and things of the sort. The connection of this passage of scripture to rainfall, is to encourage you all to know that rainfall is one of the good things James was talking about. That by experiencing consistent rainfall, you are experiencing the good things of Heaven because your suffering encourages faith, which produces perseverance; something that will help you get through the rainfall. Money cannot help you. Mama cannot help you. A boo thang cannot help, nor can that opportunity that you desperately want or feel that you need will help you. Nothing outside of the Lord can help you from the rainfall, just his covering. It is the continuation of the rainfall that builds the perseverance to withstand the rain. Do not be discouraged my brothers and sisters, “for joy comes in the morning”- Psalm 30:5.
