A Now Happy

Ironically the revelation of having “a now happy” came about this time last year. I believe I had my fair share of ice cream over a “beau” I was interested in. Nevertheless, God gave me the revelation of having “a now happy” because I was in a place of constantly thinking of “next.” Whether it was thinking of the next day, or when this would happen, or when I could go to this place, or when I finally got something that I wanted. God finally asked me, “What about now? What am I doing now? Where am I now? And how am I doing right now?”

After being reminded of this revelation, it dawned on me that what if we are asking the wrong question? Instead of asking ourselves, or constantly asking God, “When will this, that, or whatever happens?” maybe we should ask ourselves this: “What if it never happens?” What if the pandemic never ends? What if Jesus will be my only Mr. Right? Or what if I never reach the level of wealth I desire? Will my life be less valuable? Am I not successful? Am I not a child of God, with breath in my body, therefore I still have a purpose in my life? The word tells us, “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own” – Matthew 6:34.

What are you waiting for? Who are you waiting for? God’s here with you. You are where you are supposed to be right now. Take inventory of today and know that tomorrow isn’t promised, and remember today was not promised either, so thank God you are here and remember the preciousness of the day. “For this is the day the Lord has made, let us worship and be glad in it” – Psalm 118:24. “Whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and then vanishes away”– James 4:14.

Ask God, for now, happy. Joy in this pandemic, joy in your singleness, joy in your divorce, joy in your sorrow, joy in the things in your life that are dead, and joy in the Lord. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit” – Romans 15:13. I pray that your soul finds rest in this season, takes in your happiness, and allows God to lead you, Amen.
